A.I.L.A PC Download
A.I.L.A felt like agreeing to test something harmless and then realizing, way too late, that I was in way over my head. The first time that strange AI starts talking to me, her calm voice tightens my skin, as if she already knows what scares me before I even realize it. As I sit alone in that apartment with the headset on, I keep noticing myself glance over my shoulder, even though nothing is there.
Every scenario she creates for me feels like I walk into someone else’s nightmare and hear a voice say, ‘figure it out.’ One moment I was creeping through dark halls trying not to breathe too loud, the next I was running from a cult that moved faster than I expected. Sometimes I had a weapon, sometimes nothing at all, and I hated how small I felt when I heard something moving just out of sight.
There was one part where the world twisted on me — doors looping, hallways stretching, things feeling slightly wrong — and it messed with my sense of direction so much that I actually stopped playing for a second just to breathe. It wasn’t loud or cheap, just deeply uncomfortable in a way that stuck with me.
By the time the endings start unfolding, I feel as if the game understands me more deeply than I actually want. And if you enjoy stories that slowly pull you into their weirdness, you might also want to download Marisa! Return The Book!, because even though it’s silly and light, it has that same feeling of getting wrapped up in something you didn’t expect.
