From the first mission in Blacklist Brigade, I knew I wasn’t playing just another top-down shooter. Everything felt tighter — the way I moved with my squad, the weight behind every shot, and the tension of pushing into buildings where enemies might be sleeping… or waiting with guns raised.
Even solo, the AI teammates didn’t feel like dead weight. I could pause the game, issue orders, and actually execute proper flanks. But once I hopped into co-op with a friend, the game hit a whole new level. We had to coordinate, cover angles, and decide who brought the explosives. Things got loud fast, but when we pulled it off? It felt earned.
Each character in the squad brings something unique. Some drop smoke screens, others clear rooms with brutal efficiency. The shared skill tree let us grow however we wanted, and after every mission, we spent XP like mercs restocking before the next chaos drop. Weapons felt real, responsive — and picking the right loadout mattered, especially when we tried the harder difficulties or tackled the night versions of each mission.
The game’s not huge yet — just one mission for now — but that mission is dense, with multiple floors, side paths, and ways to approach your objective. And with five difficulty levels, it never felt too easy or too punishing. Just right for a challenge.
Sure, there’s room to grow. But even in early access, Blacklist Brigade had me replaying just to try new builds or take smarter routes.
