FREERIDE PC Download
FREERIDE is a uniquely styled narrative RPG that blends surreal storytelling, quirky humour, and light action with a hidden agenda—it’s also a personality test. You play as Proto, a spirit-riding traveller aboard the Fate Train, meeting a parade of bizarre and touching characters, each representing some corner of your psyche.
Each playthrough lasts around four hours and only reveals about a third of the game’s content. The story changes according to your intentional and unintentional choices, making it playful but introspective.
The writing is its standout feature—whimsical, emotional, and self-aware. The characters are oddball but grounded, and the worldbuilding, while scattered, feels cohesive in later loops. Combat, however, is divisive. You use telekinesis to fling objects at enemies, but the controls can be clunky, especially for trackpad users.
What FREERIDE excels at is replayability and curiosity. Still, bugs, minor UI issues, and underwhelming personality result explanations can hold it back from fully realising its ambitious design.
If you’re drawn to games like Undertale, Omori, or OneShot—games where charm and character outweigh polish—FREERIDE is worth taking for a spin. Don’t expect it to hold your hand or give you all the answers. That’s the point. If you're ready to step off the train and deeper into your past, download Veloria: The Knot of Candles and walk the quiet halls of a forgotten orphanage where every candle reveals something you'd rather forget.
