I thought I was just placing units to stop some hopping invaders, but suddenly I was knee-deep in choosing upgrade paths, triggering abilities at the perfect moment, and rethinking my whole setup after a surprise boss wave.
Every unit I placed mattered. I’d start with a basic crew—maybe a chicken cannon or that weird axe-thrower—and as I leveled them up, their powers changed the whole game. Some slowed enemies, some stunned them, some just went full chaos. And mixing those with the 16 permanent upgrades? That’s where the real strategy kicked in. No two runs felt the same.
Then there were the special battle abilities—only four of them, but man, did they save my run more than once. When the frogs started swarming my captain and I had no units left to drop, unleashing one of those abilities felt like hitting the panic button—and it actually worked.
By the time I hit stage 50, I was hooked. Every five stages, a new frog type showed up and threw a wrench into my setup. Poison spitters, shielded ones, even teleporting nightmares. And when I reached the first super boss? I thought I was done for. But somehow, barely, I scraped by.
