Haunted House Renovator honestly surprised me. I thought it would be a spooky version of House Flipper, but it turned out to have way more going on. You’re not just slapping on wallpaper and tossing out furniture, you’re dealing with actual hauntings. Sometimes, that means drawing magic circles or using ghost traps, and sometimes, it’s just chasing weird floating objects around a room. It’s spooky but not scary, which makes it chill to play, even for someone like me who loves horror but doesn’t want full-on jump scares all the time.
What I liked most was how much freedom you have. You can be nice to ghosts and try to help them move on, or go full exorcist and banish them by force. There is also a twist where you get a job that lets you adopt ghosts to help you in future jobs. Also, there are many decorating options like paint, floors, furniture, etc, and this got me really into making each haunted place look cosy again.
The tutorial isn’t hand-held, so I had to figure a lot out independently. But it all clicked once I got the hang of the tools and ghost mechanics.
