My only answer was the weight of steel in my hands and the roar of fire as I tore into the swarm.
Every weapon felt like an extension of rage. The revolver spun hot in my palm, the shotgun spat fire that left nothing standing, and the saw-spear chewed through bodies like they were nothing but paper. Enemies never strike as mere monsters—they twist into reflections of what humanity once stood for. Machine priests whispering madness, soldiers with rifles that burned through flesh, spider-things crawling from the shadows. Every corner was another ambush, every corridor another test of whether I’d move fast enough, shoot hard enough, to keep from becoming part of the Growth myself.
There was no story to hold my hand, no soft pause between fights. Just movement—fast, brutal, endless—and the sound of my own heartbeat trying to match the rhythm of carnage. Mercy didn’t exist here. Hesitation got me killed more times than I could count. But when I leaned into it, when I stopped thinking and let the violence take over, it was almost pure.
