Keep the Heroes Out makes me feel like I’m finally on the other side for once. Instead of being the hero running around stealing treasure, I get to be the monster guarding it, and it’s kind of thrilling. I pick my monster, figure out its abilities, and start setting up the dungeon like it’s my own little fortress. Every turn I play my cards, trying to block the heroes, thinking about which move will matter most.
Playing with friends makes it even better. We laugh when things go completely wrong, or when a plan we thought would work just explodes in the worst way. The dungeons change each time, so it never really feels the same, and I find myself exploring every corner, trying to figure out the best way to stop the invaders.
Even when a monster dies, I know I can bring it back, which makes me feel safe but also keeps me thinking about the treasure. Because treasure gone is gone forever, and protecting it feels real. It’s messy, chaotic, and fun in a way that makes me keep coming back to see what happens next.
