Every time I died, I didn’t just restart — I became what killed me. A holy primate? Now I could throw righteous fists. Some massive demon with molten claws? I was the beast now. The game kept tempting me to throw my current run just to unlock the creature in front of me. And I gave in, more than once.
Each character felt wildly different. One could freeze time, another swapped places with enemies, another left behind burning trails. Some could barely wear armor because of their size — like the Godly Terrapin who couldn't even equip a chestplate, but could still wipe out a room if used right.
The strategy went deep. I’d lure enemies into friendly fire, push angels into lava with a single move, or strike and vanish before they could react. Every level felt like it was daring me to try something new — or die trying.
There’s no meta-progression. No big upgrades between runs. Just me, the enemies, and whatever I could loot or learn along the way. Heaven and Hell both had their own tricks, their own punishments. I never knew which path was worse — or better.
It’s rough, it’s raw, and yeah, some characters are broken or unfair. But that’s also part of the charm. Lost in Prayer doesn’t hold your hand. It kicks you into the pit and asks if you can crawl out — or better yet, come back as something stronger.
