Lost in Vivo felt like dropping into a place where the air itself was too close, pressing against my skin in a way that made every breath feel a little borrowed. The moment my dog slipped into that broken sewer drain, something inside me just snapped, and I didn’t even think — I just ran after them.
Walking through those tight, dripping tunnels made my chest feel tight. Every step echoed too loudly, like I was announcing myself to things I didn’t want to meet. Sometimes I’d hear my dog’s collar jingle somewhere in the distance, and that tiny sound kept pulling me forward, even when the walls felt like they were closing in.
Meeting other people down there made everything feel even more surreal. They looked like they were fighting their own invisible battles, trapped in fears that felt way too familiar. Some of them made me feel hopeful for a second, like maybe we could help each other, but then the feeling would slip away when I realized how lost they already were.
There were moments I had to stop and just steady myself, listening to strange noises in the distance or breathing through a wave of dread that came out of nowhere. Guns didn’t make me feel safer.
But I kept going, one small, clumsy step at a time, because somehow the thought of my dog being alone in that place scared me more than anything lurking in the dark.
