NOROI KAGO: the Grudged Domain is something you should check out, i you're into horror games and love Japanese folklore. I played it with a friend and immediately got hooked by the art style, it has this classic anime vibe that makes everything feel surreal and nostalgic at the same time. The yokai designs are creepy in a terrific way, and the atmosphere is agitated, especially when you're hiding from these folklore spirits while trying to escape.
NOROI KAGO is different from other co-op horror games because it mixes survival with strategy. You can't just run and hide; you must work with your teammates to complete rituals and avoid getting cursed. Even when you get caught, you're not completely out, which makes it feel fair, but it still has high stakes. I also really liked that each map and difficulty combo feels different. Some stages are way more complicated with specific bosses, and adding the “extra boss” mode is pure chaos in the best way.
The only problem is that the NOROI KAGO: the Grudged Domain doesn’t have a ton of content right now. There are just two maps and a few monsters, but the devs are active and seem committed to adding more. If they keep expanding it with new stages and more yokai, this could turn into a top-tier horror co-op experience. I already had a great time and will definitely jump back in when they release new updates.
Suppose you’re looking for a spooky co-op game with solid lore and awesome Japanese monster designs. In that case, Noroi Kago is worth trying, especially with friends. Just be ready to scream and maybe laugh when you panic together.
