Overencumbered In Another World dropped me straight into a grid-based puzzle hell, and I loved every second. It’s all about cramming oddly-shaped junk—guns, food, meds—into your bag without losing your mind. At first, I thought it was just a Tetris-style sort-and-fit kind of game, but then I had to rotate bullets to reload guns, combine items, and even worry about radiation while healing myself. Suddenly, every item mattered.
The gameplay is simple but sharp. Each level is a little diorama of chaos: fit everything, manage your health, and ensure you’ve still got enough ammo for what’s next. And just when I thought I had the rules figured out, the game threw in new mechanics—nothing too complex, but just enough to keep me on my toes.
What caught me off guard, though, was the voiceover. You can toggle it on or off, but I left it on, and I’m glad I did. My wasteland “partner” muttered ridiculous one-liners and bizarre commentary while I rotated a can of beans for the fifth time, and yeah—it made me laugh. It’s weird, kind of dumb, but oddly charming.
It’s not a long game—just a couple of chapters—but the humour, tight puzzle design, and innovative use of inventory mechanics made it feel worth every cent. Moreover, it’s like Fallout’s inventory screen became sentient and wanted to mess with me for an hour and a half. I hope they add more chapters soon, because I’d happily go back in.
