Teardown always felt like stepping into a world that handed me a hammer and basically said, “Go ahead, see what happens.” The first time I smashed through a wall, I just stood there laughing because I didn’t expect it to crumble so perfectly.
And then the heists started, and suddenly all that freedom had a purpose. I’d walk through a level slowly, almost tiptoeing, trying to imagine every shortcut I could make. Sometimes I’d carve a messy tunnel through a building, other times I’d stack random objects into the world’s most unsafe staircase.
But the moment I hit that alarm? Everything changed. My heart would start racing as I sprinted through the destruction I’d made earlier. Doors hanging off hinges, holes in floors, cars half-buried in rubble — it all became part of this wild, panicked run.
The campaign surprised me with how weird and messy the story got, too. Doing jobs for odd clients, getting dragged into strange motives, breaking into places I definitely shouldn’t be — it made the whole world feel alive in this funny, low-stakes crime kind of way.
Then there was sandbox mode, where I’d just wander around breaking stuff for no reason at all. No timer, no goals, just pure destruction. I didn’t realize how calming that could be until I spent way too much time knocking down houses just to watch them fall.
