Warside feels like a game that hits just the right spot if you love old-school, turn-based tactics like Advance Wars. When I first jumped into it, I instantly recognised the style, clean pixel art, quick battles, and satisfying feeling of planning your moves just right.
The coolest part of Warside for me was choosing from 14 different Commanders, each with unique passive abilities and powerful skills called Battle Powers. Timing these right can change how the match plays out. Add in over 30 unit types, tanks, jets, subs, medics, and snipers, and you really get to mix and match your army in fun ways. The terrain and the movement also have a significant role, so you can't just charge forward; you have to think it through.
The single-player campaign has more than 30 missions, and almost every one is located in a different biome. Each mission feels different, and I was genuinely surprised by how challenging some maps were, especially on higher difficulties.
Now, Warside is not perfect. Some things still feel early, like the UI design and certain quality-of-life features. For example, checking enemy stats could be easier, and there's not much faction variety in unit designs yet. But the multiplayer is smooth, and I've had no real issues connecting.
