All three Gunvolt games — from the 2014 original to the latest 2022 installment — are packed into this collection with every DLC and a bunch of quality updates that actually matter. It’s not just a re-release. It feels like the whole series got a boost of lightning to bring everything together.
I jumped into the first game expecting old-school controls, but the new skills and smoother layout made it feel surprisingly fresh. Then came Gunvolt 2, and switching over to Copen was like playing an entirely different game. His “Bullit Dash” made me feel unstoppable — leaping through the air, locking onto enemies, and wiping them out mid-flight. And with his voice lines redone for this version, it all sounded better than I remembered.
But it’s Gunvolt 3 that really surprised me. Kirin’s melee chain teleportation mechanic is pure speed and chaos in the best way. Swapping between her and Gunvolt in the middle of fights kept things exciting, and with over 150 Image Pulse buffs to collect, I kept chasing the next one just to see what it would do.
